First Parish Church has an immediate opening for the position of Sexton.  Must be able to take direction, work with minimal supervision and function cooperatively as part of a team.  The position reports to the Senior Pastor and the Facilities Team.  Hours are flexible and do require some evening and weekend work.   Background check will be required.

Position: Sexton

• Reports to: Senior Minister along with the Facilities Team
  
  Status: Part-time year-round, average of up to 35 hours/week.  Candidates must be able to work flexible hours including evening and weekend hours.  May include some Sundays in cases of weather (i.e. snowstorms).
  
  Perform all light maintenance, repairs and cleaning of the church facilities and surrounding areas.
  

• Job Responsibilities
  
  Keep sidewalks clear in inclement weather and maintain the grounds
  Clean and maintain wood floors
  Ensure the trash and recycle are ready for pickup
  Perform general carpentry, painting and repair work
  Complete work order requests 
  Prepare for special events (set-up and takedown) as requested
  Perform safety checks on elevator, boiler/furnace, fire alarm and sprinkler system
  Maintain and service mechanical equipment
  Clean walls, bathrooms, appliances, counters etc. on a regular basis using current CDC guidelines

Job Communication Skills

Report needed repairs to the appropriate vendor, the office and/or the Facilities Team
Attend Facilities Team meetings when requested
Communicate with staff members via email

Job Qualifications:

Experience in the maintenance and custodial field
Ability to maintain the systems of the church including use of the various heating, ventilation and lighting computer programs
Ability to follow procedures established by the Manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Ability to be self-managed with good problem solving and communication skills
Ability to clearly receive and relay information and follow through with assigned tasks

Physical Demands:

• Must be physically fit with the ability to bend, lift up to 50 pounds, climb, shovel, etc. as needed.
