Lighting the Candle of Peace                                                                      The Condon Family
Reader: Hear the words of the Prophet Isaiah: “The wolf shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion will feed together, and a little child shall lead them.” (Isaiah 11:6) What does peace look like in the new world?

Reader: Peace looks like a flowing river where every living thing has what they need to flourish.
Peace looks like a place where those who are weak are not afraid of those who are strong.
Peace looks like the warmth of hospitality extended to all.

Reader: Advent is the beginning of this new world, where we can boldly build a good life together.

(The Candle of Peace is lit.)

Unison Prayer: Gracious God, out of the darkness you send a light; out of a lifeless stump you call forth a new shoot; out of the discord of our lives you proclaim a vision of peace. May your Spirit rest upon us, that the hope which you inspire will be lived out in our lives. We pray this in the name of the One whose birth we prepare to celebrate, Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be   done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our
debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
