Scott's Weekly Greeting, August 10, 2021

Scott's Weekly Greeting, August 10, 2021 ...

Grace is tricky. It seems as though it is always easier to get your ire up than to offer forgiveness. It is easier to get offended than to take the time to see where the other might be coming from. A colleague of mine just shared a Peanuts cartoon today. It is one of the four-square cartoons.

Box One: Charlie Brown says to Snoopy, "What are you doing?"
Box Two: Snoopy replies, "Writing a theology book."
Box Three: Charlie Brown says, "I hope that you have a good title."
Box Four: Snoopy responds, "I do. It is, 'Have You Ever Considered that You Might Be Wrong?'"

Grace recognizes the reality that the universe does not revolve around us. Grace opens the door for peace, understanding and forgiveness. Grace offers new life to the one who offers it and to the one to whom it is offered.

Grace is tricky ... but it is worth the effort.

I will be away for vacation for a few days beginning on Sunday, August 15. This week, our worship service will be led by Reverend Cynthia Maybeck. Reverend Maybeck is a gifted minister and storyteller. Her message, "Grace in Renewed Life," will be based upon Ephesians 4:25-5:2. The Summer pick-up Choir will be also singing. If you would like to sing in the pick-up choir, you are welcome to join them. Warm up and rehearsal begins Sunday morning at 9:00 AM.

May God grant you Grace and Peace,

Scott
