Scott's Weekly Greeting ...

We, here we are ... Holy Week. It is the single most sacred week of the year, and this year the week is more holy than usual.

There are holes in our hearts left by the family and friends that we have not seen in weeks.
There are holes in our homes left by the people that used to come visit.
There are holes in our schedules left by all of the things we used to do.
There are holes in our lives left by all of the places we used to go.

We know why we are doing it, but it does not make it any easier. Physical distancing is hard. However, let us make an intentional effort to make this week into a time that makes us whole.

May the break in our schedules allow us time to refresh and recharge.
May we spend time exploring our spiritual practices of prayer and reading scripture.
And may that practice draw us even closer in our relationships with God.

During difficult times, we see the best in people. We have seen families and individuals pulling together to support the medical community and caregivers. We have seen neighborhoods rally around people who are unable to care for themselves. We have seen so many creative ways to bring joy to one another. These blessings brighten our days and help to carry us through. These blessings are the embodiment of the heart and spirit of God!

I thank you for all of the ways that you are supporting one another and the wider community. You are putting your faith into action and extending compassion and kindness to our neighbors in need. People will always remember the ways that this week was so uniquely holy!

I hope that you will join us for our virtual Maundy Thursday service on Thursday evening at 7:00 PM. This is one of the most meaningful worship services of the year. We will spend that last hours of Jesus' earthly life with him and his disciples. We will celebrate the Lord's Supper and a service of Tenebrae. (Be sure to prepare your communion elements.)

Our Easter Celebration will be live streamed on Sunday morning at 10:00 AM. The sanctuary will be decorated for Easter and the music will be wonderful!! Join us online as we proclaim the glory of the Risen Christ with shouts of "Hallelujah!"

May this week be filled with God's wonderful peace,
Pastor Scott
