It is hard to believe that it has been almost six months since I began my ministry with you! It is our sixth month-i-versary!! How should we celebrate such an occasion?

I suppose that we could create a photo display depicting all of the events of the past six months… worship services, baptisms, new members, weddings, fairs, fundraisers, fellowship events! That would be fun. So many wonderful moments come to mind.

Or, we could celebrate the previous six months by looking forward to the next six months. We have a number of exciting events and programs in store. It has been a year of firsts, and I am excited about all of the things that I get to experience with you for the first time: our first Lent, our first Easter, our first Confirmation Sunday, our first Vacation Bible School.

In addition to all of these meaningful and exciting programs and ministries, there are a couple of others that you can put on your calendars. On Sunday, April 19, we will welcome the group Southern Rail to our 10:00 AM worship service. The service will be a bluegrass Gospel service. I have hosted them several times in the past and they are wonderful!

We finally have a date for my Installation Service. Details are still being worked out, but please save Sunday, April 26, on your calendars. The service will likely be in the afternoon and I am looking forward to making it “official”!

Looking a little further forward on the calendar, I am working with author Roland Merullo to schedule a speaking engagement here at First Parish Church. Mr. Merullo has written over twenty books including, Breakfast With Buddha, American Savior, Talk Funny Girl, and Golfing With God. His books are witty and engaging, and also have threads of faith and introspection woven through them. We are looking at a possible date in August. I will keep you posted but go ahead and circle the whole month!

As I wrote in my annual report, I am also hoping to schedule a number of small gatherings here at the church and in people’s homes so that I can continue to hear and learn your stories. If you would like to host a gathering, please let me know or speak with one of our Deacons.

It has been such a blessing to serve as your pastor for the past six months, I am eager to see what the future holds for us!

Grace and Peace,
Scott
